Valerie Komkov Hill

Valerie Komkov Hill was born in Stockport, England in 1950 and spent much of her early childhood in South and Central Africa. Her family emigratedĀ to the U.S. in 1957 and she has lived in Lubbock, Texas since 1969, attending Texas Tech University and receiving a BFA in Art, a BA in Dance, and an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies.

In 1983 she began teaching dance in the Fine Arts program at Lubbock High School, retiring in 2006, after which she taught dance as an adjunct instructor at Texas Tech University for two years. Since 2007 she has been teaching Yoga and Fitness to seniors at a local community center. She serves on the board of the Flatlands Dance Theatre and is a member of the Lubbock Arts Alliance, the Caprock Art Quilters, and SAQA (Studio Art Quilters Association)

More recently she has been active as an award winning artist, showing works both locally and nationally, primarily in the mediums of painting and fiber art.

Valerie is married to retired professor of Architecture, Glenn EĀ Hill, and has two children.
