About Wild Lark Books

Wild Lark Books first opened its doors in December of 2021 by founder and creator Brianne van Reenen. After living in Lubbock for over 13 years, she believed it was time to create a corner in Lubbock that she had craved – a local, indie bookstore and a community that loves the connective power of stories.

Wild Lark Books was first born as a publisher that allowed authors creative control over their work while aligning it with the far-reaching resources of traditional publishing. As the vision developed, it also became a community home for writers and storytellers of all mediums in a sacred space of an indie bookstore.

Thank you for being a part of the mission and for being a part of ensuring the community continues to have the presence and resource of Lubbock’s Downtown Indie Bookstore.

Pictured: ‘THE LONG ROAD HOME’ is written by Lisa K. Brewer and is a story about two Lubbock Veterans whose brotherhood flourished through their experiences in WWII.

Wild Lark Books Publishing

Wild Lark Books believes in the power in the art of authentic storytelling.

Here are just a couple of the books Wild Lark Books has helped bring to the world.

DL went through 13 years of pitching ‘KNIGHT RISE’ to agents and publishers. It received the PAGE TURNER AWARD in 2022.

Words from the Silent Generation by Kenlea Barnes Book Poetry Coffee Recipes

Poetry brought from the experience of being young and not on social media. Collaborating with WLB  expanded this book to include humor-filled coffee recipes to help others fill the void who might be walking the same path.

SECRET LANGUAGE OF PRAIRE DOGS NOVEL JAMES VILLANUEVA Teen LGBTQ+ Fiction Young Adult Novel Paranormal

Culturally rich and infused with intense authenticity. James has been asked to do book readings in New York City and Mexico in Summer of 2023.

I'm on Hospice Cover by Sydney Crane

A resource for kiddos who must navigate terminal illness by Sydney Crane, M.S., LMFT of Lubbock. This book has helped families around the world!

Books published through Wild Lark Books are available all over the world and through all major retailers plus indie bookstores around the country. While not all authors in the Wild Lark Books portfolio are from Lubbock, most of them are. Lubbock is full of incredible people with incredible stories, and Wild Lark Books is honored to help shine the spotlight on the Hub City filled with diamonds.

Why Wild Lark Books?

– Help keep the culture of independent bookstores alive.

– Help support local storytellers of all kinds (writers, musicians, dancers, painters, photographers, and more!)

– Help support programs and events that engage readers all over the city.

– Help support Lubbock – since purchases from an indie bookstore produces more than 2x the local economic activity as the same purchase from Barnes & Noble, and 4x more than Amazon.*
